Registration for Summer 2017 is now open!
Now entering our 9th year of Summer Camp, we’re gearing up for an awesome summer of fun, creativity, making things, tech, media and learning! Register now for our expanded Full Day Camp options — all day 9am to 5pm and 9am to 3pm summer camps, available by the week or month.
This summer we’re again providing the simplified Full Day / Half Day Registration option. You don’t have to decide in advance what your camper(s) will be doing. Just pick which week(s) and full day, mornings, or afternoons. This camp registration system makes signing up simple, and enables campers to decide when they arrive which activities they prefer. Most of our registrations came in using this easier system last summer, so here it is again.
For the benefit or any old-timers, or for newbies who prefer to check us out in a more limited (fewer hours per day) and a more focused way, we’ll continue to offer the specialty camp registration system. You can choose from over a dozen part-time Morning & Afternoon Camp programs using our traditional register by camp program system!
And if you’re completely new and not sure if Ithaca Media Arts Summer Camp is the right fit for your child, please consider our inexpensive one-day “Try-It Camp”.

ITHACA MEDIA ARTS SUMMER CAMP:
A Summer Maker Fair for Teens & Kids!
From animation to robotics, claymation to 3D printing, filmmaking to game making, photographing reality to Virtual Reality, Ithaca Media Arts is an extraordinary environment where kids and teens come for a fun time and leave with new skills and the empowerment of the maker movement! Register Now and Join the Maker Movement this Summer!
NEW PROGRAMS FOR AGES 12 & UP
This summer we’re introducing new, weekly camps especially for teenagers age 12 to 17. New activities include VIRTUAL REALITY (VR), as well as Teen Acting, and a new integrated program called 3D Print, Paint & Animate! where teens first design a 3D character using CAD software, they make it with a 3D printer, paint it and then animate it in stop motion, all in one weeks’ time! Also new this summer we’re offering Flash Animation, and School of Rock Music Production, and Documentary Filmmaking, plus Web Site Building. They’re all offered at a teen-friendly afternoon time, from 1:30-4:30pm.
ALL DAY OR MORNING / AFTERNOON CREATIVE FUN!
Full day 9am-5pm camps include Full Day Film & Animation Academy for teens and kids ages 8-17 interested in making videos and animations, Junior Filmmaker Camp for ages 5-9, and Pre-Engineering Camp for ages 8-17, and Games and Game Making for ages 8 to 17.
Part-day morning and afternoon camp programs this summer include iPad Filmmaking, 3-D Printer CAD Toymaking, Build a Web Site, and ROBLOX-Minecraft. Yu-Gi-Oh and Magic card game play too! ROBLOX camp includes X-Box game creation!
For younger kids ages 4-9 camps include Junior Lego Animation & Claymation and Junior Acting Workshop.
CREATIVE, FUN CAMPS FOR ALL AGES!
Kids Media Maker Camp for ages 7-14 is highly recommended for new campers, and includes many different media creation techniques including Lego animation, CGI animation, photography, TV news and drama. (Many campers return again and again!)
The Film & Animation Academy camp programs for ages 8 -18 enable campers to create their own short films! Campers use Lego Animation, CGI, Cel Animation, Stop Motion, Claymation, Green Screen, and other techniques to produce original scripts. This summer at the Academy we’re making a Sci-Fi Show, plus our customary TV News Spoof, and creating animations with American Girl Dolls and Transformers!
Also consider, individually: Lego Robotics (ages 8-17), and Yu-Gi-Oh! Dueling Academy (ages 8-17), along with Computer Game Making with Roblox Studio (ages 8-17).
EARLY DROP OFF & LATE PICKUP.
We’ll be open from 8:30 am to 6:00pm this summer, as in previous years. We offer early drop off and late pickup to suit your schedule, in half hour increments, via our Afternoon & Morning Recreation program. Just choose the extra time(s) you need.
DISCOUNTS FOR MULTI-WEEKS, SIBLINGS/FRIENDS
Substantial discounts are available for campers signing up for multiple weeks; see the online registration details for each (in the drop down list of how many weeks.) There’s also a 10% discount for registering a second (and third) camper on the same form (sibling / friend discount) — this is applied automatically at checkout.
Do you know a young future filmmaker who would enjoy a 4-week filmmaking program? Register for 1, 2, 3, 4 or more weeks at our Film & Animation Academy program and get a mini-film school and summer camp rolled into one!
Or register a tech enthusiast for 1, 2, 3 or 4-weeks of game making with ROBLOX and Minecraft and your camper can create a really sophisticated online game with advanced scripting that she or he will be truly proud of! New this year, teens and kids can even create games to play on the X-Box using the ROBLOX platform and tools and expertise we provide!

SEE CAMP PROJECTS ON THE BIG SCREEN AT CINEMAPOLIS!
All camp programs include free admission for friends and family to a real movie theater screening of all completed camp projects at Cinemapolis in downtown Ithaca. The screening will include mini-documentaries of the tech camps too, so everyone is part of the show!
